![]() Are IR staff allowed smoke on the job.
Times when I am passing through Connolly in the mornings you will see an IR member of staff smoking away while he directs trains it is ok to leave. I think it gives off a bad impression when you see this. |

![]() Hey thats nothing,
I've often seen them standing indoors on the platform in Heuston smoking. IR have no non smoking policy for customers let alone staff. Customers smoke indoors on the platforms in heuston daily and nothing is done about it no matter how many times you compain to customer no service. |

![]() Well there is a higher power you can complain to.
Its very east make IE follow the rules when you threaten the law on them, after all the owner of the premises is guilty of permitting smoking and can be fined as well as the person smoking

![]() If a "semi-open" space has a roof and more than 50% of the perimeter is enclosed, smoking is prohibited. So all of Heuston is out of bounds and most of Connolly, except platforms 5 (possibly) and 6 & 7 (definitely).

There used to be regular announcements on the PA stating that smoking was prohibited in all parts of Heuston. I haven't heard recently. |

![]() If thats the case they should just give up and take early retirement now.
Irish Rail are perfectly entitled to eject anyone who is breaking the law.
