Current Status
Project stalled due to tendering problems, Iarnród Éireann to blame, estimate further 6 months delay. Further delay of 3 months attributed to Minister for Transport taking over 8 weeks to sign the works order. Project initially proposed to be operational July 2008 when announced by Iarnród Éireann at public inquiry. It is anticipated that civil works will begin in February 2008. Rail Users Ireland does not anticipate passenger services to commence until December 2009.
