Travel Advice
If you are a daily commuter a monthly or annual ticket is likely to be the most cost effective solution. Ask your employer if they are a member of the Taxsaver scheme to avail of further savings of up to 52% depending on your income tax situation. Weekly tickets are also available but not through Taxsaver.
Not a daily commuter, read on?
In Dublin
LEAP card is the best solution, offering significant discounts over cash. Daily and weekly fare capping functionality is expected shortly which will ensure you never pay more than the equivalent 1 day or 7 day ticket for the travel you undertake. LEAP of course is valid on Luas, Dublin Bus as well as some private operators, Matthews Coaches and Wexford Bus.
Elsewhere
Weekly tickets are available for all journeys and offer considerable savings over standard single and return tickets. Travelling after 9:30am may result in discounted single/return fares.
If you travel infrequently but can plan ahead, booking online is advised. Book at least 3 days in advance to avail of heavily discounted fares.
