Unofficial Strike Action - Cork

This afternoon services in the Cork area have been brought to a standstill due to yet another unofficial wildcat strike, the third in recent months, all of which have been based in Cork.
This action relates to a group of permanent way staff who have opted to take unofficial action, this follows on from the suspension of some permanent way staff. The exact cause of the dispute is at this time unknown.
As always Platform 11 condemns today's unofficial industrial action. Once again it's the already hard pressed passengers that suffer. Time and time again, it's the loyal commuters that must bare the brunt of disputes by union members within Irish Rail. Platform 11 calls on both management and staff to resolve there differences within the well defined industrial relations machinery and to do so without disruption to the public.
As can be expected no specific information on what services are effected is available from the Irish Rail website. Platform 11 understands that all Cork services, Mallow Cork Cobh, Kerry line and Dublin Cork services are either cancelled or otherwise disrupted. Platform 11 understands that least one Dublin Cork train has been left stranded in Mallow as a result of the dispute.

17:45 05-09-2006: One hour 45 minutes after the first notice finally Irish Rail publish the list of services effected here. Note the 21:00 Dublin Cork is cancelled totally.
10:30 06-09-2006: Unofficial action terminated at 10am and services are resuming.
