Field Trip to Navan

September 3rd 2005

Today Platform 11 conducted a major survey of the Clonsilla Navan and Drogheda Navan rail lines

The lines where surveyed and all bridges and stations where inspected, noted and photographed. Thanks to the permission of 2 landowners we gained access to the virtually unknown Boyne Viaduct south of Navan. This is a substantial 5 arch stone viaduct across the Boyne which cannot be seen from or accessed from a public road.

This survey has vindicated our view that a line from Clonsilla to Navan is by no means a certainty ands many obstacles lie in it way. It clear to us the Meath County Council have sought to mislead the public and are this very moment actively undermining the possibility of reopening Clonsilla Navan.

We have identified several major issues of concern, many of which could have been avoided if the Meath County Development plan was followed. A major report is being prepared and will be made available in next few weeks.
