![]() The 07.15 Drogheda-Bray service developed a door fault towards the back of the train at Balbriggan. Driver eventually isolated doors to 2 carriages (of the 8), and moved all the passengers to the rest of the train.
Left about 30 mins late. Driver also made plenty of announcements and apologies, so well done to him. By the time he resumed the service, there were already 2 more Northern line suburban trains sitting behind this one. However, instead of offloading passengers for suburban stations en-route to Connolly at Skerries, and running it non stop to try and make up some time, for some reason they kept to the original stopping pattern, with stops at Rush and Lusk, Donabate, Malahide, Portmarnock, Clongriffin, and Howth Junction. The train was completely full by Skerries, with only 6 carriages, and left passengers behind there. It just led to completely un-neccessary confusion at all the stations in between, as passengers ran up and down the platform trying to push on. Any ideas why common sense did not prevail, or I am missing something? ![]()

![]() with two trains sitting behind it is not beyond reason for the situation to be radioed into Connolly and then back out to the stations advising passengers that the delayed train is full and there are two right behind it.
Its the little things like this that get people off the network and into a bus. |

![]() At least you had an explanation as to why you were delayed!
I was on one of those trains caught behind the train you were on. We were delayed outside Gormanston for 15 mins and then delays along the route resulted in our train being 35 minutes late -- without a word of an apology or an explanation as to why! |

![]() The problem with non stop is you offload people who then have no chance of getting on the subsequent trains.
There is a significant flow of school children on the Northern line. Non stop from Portmarnock to city is the best half way option in this case.

![]() In relation to Making announcements
That used to happen with the morning Longford pearse train (the first one). Not sure if it's still needed. When I got to castleknock people tried to shove on without any success. The driver would make an announcement saying there was a train behind. |
