Easter Weekend Service Arrangements - No train service between Connolly/Howth/Malahide on Easter Sunday 20th April

Easter Bank Holiday Weekend April 18th - 21st

Customers travelling over the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend are advised to check times before travelling, through the journey planner above or go to our timetable section.

Service Arrangements - Sunday 20th April

Due to major engineering works between Connolly and Malahide there will be no train service between Connolly/Howth/Malahide on Sunday 20th April.

DART - The following DART stations will be closed - Portmarnock, Clongriffin, Howth, Sutton, Bayside, Howth Jct. & Donaghmede, Kilbarrack, Raheny, Harmonstown, Killester and Clontarf Road.
•Dublin Bus will accept all valid rail tickets on scheduled services between closed DART stations and city centre.
•DART services will operate to/from Greystones - Connolly stations only.

Dundalk/Drogheda - Services will operate to/from Malahide station with onward bus transfers to Connolly/Pearse stations.

Belfast - Services will operate to/from Drogheda station with onward bus transfers to Connolly station.

Maynooth/Longford/Sligo - Services will operate as normal but customers are advised to check times through the journey planner above or go to our timetable section.

Rosslare - Services will operate as normal but customers are advised to check times through the journey planner above or go to our timetable section.

Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail apologise for the inconvenience caused by these necessary works.

Think they are installing southern end of the northbound passing loop at Clongriffen.

The primary work on the 20th of April is, I understand, a partial renewal at Howth Junction where the inbound mainline crosses the outbound Howth branch.

The half baked layout at Clongriffin was commissioned last October. Although there are no scheduled movements it has proven useful on a few occasions to allow faster trains precede Malahide bound DART services.

The center of the Howth Junction junction was replaced.

A bridge/culvert at Mp7 3/4 was replaced

Some ballast cleaning/tamping in the Kilester area.

Yes the works you mention, each individually comparatively minor, were completed on Sunday. The relatively new switch diamond at Howth Juntion was replaced apparently to improve reliability.

Hard to see why DARTs could not have run to Clontarf Road on Sunday given no works between there and Connolly.

Yes, I believe so !

Incidentally yesterdays delays were compounded by the casual diversion of the 0700 ex Greystones to run to Malahide (Instead of Clongriffin). This meant there were no inbound northern line DART services for almost twenty minutes along with delays of up to 15 minutes to outer suburban services and the 0650 from Belfast.

Doesn't really matter though as only passengers would have been late. However two drivers might have been late for tea break.
