![]() The guide to ticketing on the RUI site (http://www.railusersireland.org/pass.../ticketing.php) states that Dublin-Limerick tickets are valid on the Dublin-Cork line.
I wasn't aware of this (or had forgotten), and when I presented myself at the Cork ticket office with my Dublin-Limerick return ticket and a stated desire to leave from Cork, they told me (after a bit of head scratching) that I had to pay €11 extra (seemed fair enough to me at the time, given the fare differences between Cork and Limerick). The ticket I got in exchange had "Intercity Extension" on it. So either the info on the website is wrong or IE just screwed me for €11 -- just thought it was of interest either way. (PS this is not a criticism of the page on the RUI site as I think it's great and far better than the crap info given by IE) |

![]() Well the website carries the exact text from the IE T&C's, it provides no info on the extension procedure, a photo or scan of this magic extension ticket would be most helpful to prove it actually exists
There is an extension charge if the station you are returning from is further away than the one on the ticket, you pay the difference which in the case of Dublin Limerick / Cork is 11 euro exactly 50 vs 61 euro Of course online Dublin Limerick is 25 and Cork Dublin is 31 single, giving 56 euro and a free reservation each way

![]() I've seen Upgrade tickets but don't have one to hand, they are white with green IÉ symbols on them.

![]() Same thing happened to me in Cork last June. I had a Sallins - Cork return. Presented it at the ticket office in Cork and asked to go to Heuston. I was issued with a new ticket and charged a fiver. It was just like the one Thomas has posted. I thought this was common knowledge.
