According to IR website there is no 18:05 service to Portlaoise or 18:35 to Thurles. I can understand the 18:35 not running as they can combine it into the Tralee train. If I don't make the 17:25 service I'll have to wait 2hrs for a train home. Great Service.

And for the folk of Wexford/Arklow/Gorey they are down to a saturday/sunday service from xmas eve until after the new year

If they miss the 13:05 ex connolly on xmas eve the next one is the 18:37

Great service alright!

They took there time

https://www.irishrail.ie/news_centre...ew&news_id=456

Still though no mention of the Portlaois/Thurles services

Also note the 18:30 Dublin Tralee is cancelled on the 24th, but there is a 18:30 to Cork instead with no connection to Tralee. Last Tralee connection is 18:00 to Cork

They are still a step ahead of Bus Éireann who have no Christmas details at all on their website.

Expect more like this the current Christmas pullout states that public holidays leaflets will no longer be printed from after new years day and the times can only be got by the website or by calling the timetable phoneline

There is no reason it can't be published in the annual timetable anyway, its printed end November

Passenger numbers are dire in the 24th-2nd window I think we must accept that. The really strange one is the missing 18:30 to Tralee, which could fill in for the 18:35 to Thurles as well

Maybe in some cases but isn't funderland still running and pulling in the crowds in the RDS so why run a Sunday service on Saturday 27th on the DART?

Funderland opens 12 noon.

We all know we deserve a better service, but we need hard facts to back up that demand, under the policy document we are working on something, yes it is certainly possible to get more for a lower cost

Dublin Bus have saturated the Ballsbridge Rd with 4, 4a, 7 and 45's. Dublin Bus are part of the problem, far too many buses with no one onboard sucking away a lot of the business. Why are Dublin Bus competing with Irish Rail? It results in both losing cash

Completely agree whatever was the purpose of the 4s it's doing both parties no favours.

Well, from my perspective, being in Wicklow Town, Bus Eireann have completely wiped the Train off the map for me.

They just launched a new timetable on Sunday, from Wicklow. First bus to Dublin 5:30am and then one every hour until 11 at night, and all Buses from Wicklow go to Airport via City Centre through the Port Tunnel.

The train is dead to me now. Dead ta' me!

Merry Christmas one and all by the way!

Conflicting reports I'm afraid

The 6:58 does run on Saturdays, but its not shown in the online timetable for the 29th or 30th. The 7:30 doesn't run on Saturdays but it does on the 29th and 30th and we can confirm that. What is curious is the 06:10 Connolly Maynooth operates on the 29th and 30th, and that train and driver would operate the 06:58 service so likely to operate.

Posters at station make no reference to Maynooth line changes in the morning

You could ring the 1850 836 6222 but I get the feeling they would be confused as well

Best advice here is to get the number of a taxi, go to Maynooth for the 6:58 if it doesn't show, call taxi get receipt and complain to Irish Rail on the grounds the service was cancelled without notice and demand a full cash refund.

Let us know, either way there is cause for complaint

Full train service on the Maynooth line anyway but the DART will not be at weekday service for some reason.
