Another one
"An industrial dispute" would imply there was a single industrial dispute.

but there was one in Cork and one in Mallow and in my book that makes 2

read it carefully

Quote:
Industrial Peace
Iarnród Éireann services during 2006 were again delivered
without disruption due to industrial action, apart from an
unofficial industrial dispute in Cork. In essence Iarnród
Éireann has managed an unprecedented period of more
than five years continuous industrial peace ensuring the
avoidance of service interruption or revenue loss.
So no mention of the three days of nationwide chaos and the fact senior IE management have serious questions about the actual cause

And why is 90% of the text referring to events in 2007?

Just before I read it, morto that the photo on the front is at a tilted slightly. Where does the half-assed shoddiness end?
Get your cameraman a spirit level in his tripod.

Note of course the door open light is on on the coach in the photo

From what I have seen I can prove that nearly all the photos date from 2007, this is the 2006 report? right?

Also spotted a seriously misleading statement

Quote:
Payment in full of the public service obligation is contingent on meeting targets agreed annually between the Company and the Department of Transport.
So explain this
Quote:
This Memorandum of Understanding on Service Levels and Targets is of no legal effect and is not binding on Iarnród Éireann or the Department of Transport. The parties to this Memorandum of Understanding do not intend any part of this Memorandum to have any contractual status of any kind.
So its clearly a statement made knowingly to mislead

Perhaps the platform is uneven...

A quick glance explains the sudden fascination with fare evasion and ticket validation by IE (if I'm reading the figures correctly...)

More stuff

DART Development
The amended contract with Siemens for the completion
of the DART car refurbishment programme includes a
reduced number of vehicles being out of service for
refurbishment at any given time. This has enabled revised
DART car links to be implemented in the 2007 schedules,
significantly increasing the number of 8-car DART trains in
peak time operations, with the majority of peak services
now 8-car. This further increases peak time DART capacity
from the north and southside stations.
The capacity enhancements where implemented with 26 coaches out of service - before the revised agreement with Siemens came into force. Jan 13th was the date

No real mention of customer service from what I can see. And as for this gem on pg4...

Quote:
"The passenger growth in 2006 can be attributed to strong
customer response to service improvements,..."
Can they really take the credit for this? Not all the people having to commute now, perhaps?

And pg 6 notes the removal of lesser used tickets - the Weekenders will be swiped off us yet. Don't promote = no demand = bin.

If you only knew how many tickets there actually are...

Well the 3 month return has been pulled I know that, there has been an attempt to reduce the number and type of contract tickets

Is there anywhere to get a list of tickets? I'd never heard of the 3 month return.

Well since a three month return to Cork is about €115 I don't think you want to know

"Provide colour light protecting signals at six level crossings between Tipperary and Clonmel."

Does this include automation of the level crossings, and if so would this enable Sunday Services on this section of the line?

I'm probably getting carried away...

Sunday services (even pm only) could produce a disproportionately large increase in numbers on Waterford-Limerick Junction, as at present weekend trips are a virtual write-off.

Surely they couldn't let that happen!

Purely safety not automation, its pretty difficult spot the signals as they are currently

Well they cant adapt to having the seat res cards or a name badge

Quote:
Iarnród Éireann staff played an important role in the
development of the railway through their commitment
to quality of service, ability to adapt to new services
and technologies and willingness to “go the extra mile”
Note the lack of the terms, reliabilty and reduced journey time and as we all know seat reservations are not worth the hassle
Quote:
The principal customer advantages of the service are
those of quality, comfort, frequency and capacity. All
services can be reserved on-line in advance, for both first
and standard class accommodation.
Doesn't the charter state a 90% target on all trains not the selective targets the DoT have stupidly agreed to which apply in one direction only. The actual numbers Kildare for 2005 was 90% not 91.7%

Quote:
Maynooth 0-10 mins 87 97.1 (95.7)
Northern 0-10 mins 87 96.4 (94.8)
Kildare 0-10 mins 85 94.9 (91.7)
The quoted punctuality % for Belfast 2005 is wrong it was 83.2% not 79%

The DART standard only records rush hour morning and rush hour evening the 2005 values where 95.5% and 89.9% respectively so this 95.4% number is clearly faked
Quote:
DART 0-10 mins 90 97.6 (95.4)
The DART standard was to be 5 minutes in 2006, didn't happen

Ten minutes for DARTs is a joke. So every DART could be 9 minutes late, but they'd all count as being on time?

To date this year I've experienced total delays of just over 11 hours on DARTs, which works out at over 6 minutes per day. Even not counting bridge strikes, ill people, etc. it still works out over 5 minutes per day, every day.

Any idea how long the average DART commute is? I wouldn't expect it's more than 30 minutes.

So, my version of DART punctuality figures, based on personal experience:

71% of DARTs at least 3 minutes late;
46% of DARTs at least 5 minutes late;

On average, your DART journey will take 20% longer than it should due to delays.

That's quite impressive. Any chance we could get Eddie Hobbs to do a TV special on the cost to the economy of workers losing 3-10 working days a year being stranded on late DARTS?

Actually, now that I've finished my rant and read some of the document:
"Accessibility work on the DART has been completed on all
but two stations which have been delayed due to planning
issues."

Does this include lifts which were out of order for months?
