![]() Hi Mark,
Do you know what damage was caused? Yesterday's 18:25 service to Waterford was a spare set (going from platform 4) as the usual set from Galway was ~40 mins late. kevin |

![]() No idea but it is between Athlone and Clonnydonin, vandals in Athlone have been busy and the secondary schools are just off which somewhat explains why it started this week
It sounds like the signalling has been damaged in some way. |

![]() According to my usual sources, something to do with the signalling has been burnt out. It happened overnight between the bank holiday Sunday and Monday.
A pilot has to travel each way with every train, i.e. from Athlone to Cloneydonin with one train and then change trains and go back. The problem is supposed to be sorted by the end of the week. Photocopied A4 notices are sellotaped in strategic places warning of 20 minute delays. Wednsesdays 16:31 Tullamore to Dublin (from Galway) went through 45 minutes late. Today was 30 minutes late but managed to avail of padding benefits and arrived in Dublin at a few minutes past 6. The Waterford Queue was out the door.

![]() Problem of course is what happens if the next train is going the same way, well the guy has to get into a car and drive.
