![]() Its been a while since this happened indeed the last DB strike had no impact on Irish rail. Could it be different this time if there is a bus eireann strike from Sunday?

![]() The staff I have spoken to have no interest in a strike and have no plans for any sympathy action or strike ballots.
Irish Rail staff signed off on a deal some time ago and it has been implemented. I'd be guessing Bus Eireann will go high court as it appears neither union has given the required 7 days notice of action. Also watch the private coach operators exploit the emergency temporary license option from the NTA to mop up passengers Remember Irish Rail have a contingency plan for this, there are several managers in the company who appear to be able to drive DART trains if needed...

![]() given the formal split of the companies within the CIE group I would be very surprised if this spilled over without IE going into the High Court and getting an injunction right away.
In fact, I dont think there has been a general CIE strike since the split in 1988?? The ILDA thing was contained within IE, and other BE/BAC disputes stayed there too?? |

![]() Problem is really the fact many bus stations and rail stations are shared, Limerick, Galway, Tralee, Sligo etc. So Bus Eireann staff could not be restrained by injunction as it is their place of work.
