Default [article] Leap card users to get free travel rewards

http://www.independent.ie/national-n...s-3320172.html

Quote:
COMMUTERS who use the smart travel Leap card will enjoy free public transport after making a certain number of trips every day.

The National Transport Authority (NTA) plans to cap the maximum amount charged to bus, train and Luas users in an effort to reward people who switch to public transport.

Nothing free here at all, the system will basically issue a day or 7 day ticket based on usage

So when you try to tag on and that tag on event would push you over the price of a day ticket or a 7 day ticket it will simply deduct the difference between the price of a 1 day ticket and what you already spent that day and charge that

Longer term the system will be smart enough to charge less when you use two buses, a bus and tram, tram and train etc

Will 7 day capping be Sunday to Saturday or rolling? Either would be more advanced than Oyster.

Unclear but 7 day capping will be included, it probably will be Sun to Sat to keep everything aligned

aligned with paper tickets?

That's pretty disappointing - it's a great feature but I don't see why they're adding bizarre limitations like that.

Its more to do with the fact single and multi operator caps will be available and for a 7 day cap everything would need to be aligned on a standardised start date
