The National Transport Authority (the Authority) has today (24 September, 2012) approved fares increases to monthly and annual tickets across all contracted public transport services provided by Dublin Bus, Iarnród Éireann, Bus Éireann and the Railway Procurement Agency.

The Authority has aligned the starting point of all operators’ annual tax-saver increases to be from 1st November 2012. There will be no further increase to annual tickets before November 2013.

Increase on annuals on Irish Rail typically took place in November apart from the 2 year gap where there was no increase

Reality is no matter when you do an increase some people will feel like they got caught out while those who renewed the month before are on a winner. I've had annuals issued in October and February and one of the largest TaxSaver companies in Dublin is May.

Give the NTA some credit that they have formally stated when increases will happen from now on so there can be no confusion

Am I right in thinking that a bus and dart annual ticket is going up from €1230 to €1420, ie more than a 15% increase?

Is this level of increase not being challenged?

Adult Short Hop Annual (Dublin Bus & Irish Rail)

Current___Requested_Approved__%
€1,320.00 €1,420.00 €1,420.00 7.58%

Thats the catch of this years increase being less than 12 months from the previous, bearing in mind we had a 20+ month gap with no increase a few years back
