Resumption of services

For some time the journey planner has been showing that the service will resume with the 07.20 train ex Waterford next Monday, 31st August, 2020.

Hopefully both IÉ and the NTA are ensuring that will happen.

Good to see this line (and the Nenagh line?) re-open. A great piece of mixed messaging when combined with Government advice to avoid public transport where possible.
Trains on this line are usually lightly loaded so personal distancing should be no problem: certainly orders of magnitude better than a bus.

On the Irish Rail website, I am able to book tickets for the Nenagh line and the Waterford-Limerick line for the 31st of August or later.
This could mean that both will reopen on that date.

Full timetable nationwide resume from 31st August.

There was been major works undertaken in recent weeks on both track and bridges

This morning (0930 Aug 31) the IE website has a timetable section announcing resumption of full services from to-day. However the PDF timetables are still the temporary ones dating from early August

Situation rectified now (1140am). I see that most Dublin-Cork services are slower, especially in the down direction from Mallow to Cork. A new outbreak of timetable padding?

Short term i'd say. Lot of track renewal on down line between Hazelhatch-Kildare due to take place and Ballast cleaning restarts which will have restrictions every few weeks. Lot of services losing 4+ minutes at Sallins over the past week, a Mark IV will take longer to recover and if you add a second further down the line.
