Clongriffin is an opportunity lost, a long loop on the inbound side would have allowed faster trains overtake DART. Combined with the shorter signalling sections such over-taking movements would impact little on the slower DART service.

Despite a three day total closure the 40 mph speed limit through Clongriffin remains and a new "temporary" 60 mph restriction has been applied just north of Howth Junction. These are in addition to other speed rrestrictions at Killester and Malahide. Still I suppose it doesn't matter much as averaging anything much faster than 30 mph in either direction between Connolly and Malahide is comparatively rare.

Incidentally, due to widespread service disruption, Clongriffin loop was used at least once yesterday for overtaking in the outbound direction.
