Should Glounthane-Midleton not have happened, for example? Certainly there were significant numbers of internet dwellers getting their pants twisted over Luas daring to reconstruct even part of the Harcourt Street line a few years ago. It isn't a crime to say "what if" and it is not as if the purse strings get tightened or loosened on the whim of internet posters. |

![]() The longer a line has been closed and the less of it is in CURRENT State ownership the less realistic a reconstruction is, particularly when lines that AREN'T closed are having difficulty obtaining resources necessary to keep them competitive vs the roads.
If we can throw reason out the window I propose that the Thurles-Clonmel line is not sufficient fairness since it doesn't cross a county bound, and thus the Derrydonnell-Loughrea-Cloughjordan-Thurles-Nenagh-Dungarvan line should begin construction immediately. 199km so with the bare minimum of acceptable equipment in the interests of balanced regional development (regauged Class 222s) the journey might take as long as an hour and a quarter, if a stop in Portumna is absolutely required. |

![]() Cork Midleton had a proper business case and was properly supported by local authorities and planning. It scored as high if not higher than some schemes in Dublin
WRC was a case of moan and moan and politicians playing the game to get votes. Nenagh currently is a political gig currently and is a basket case especially as it appears the change made this month has led to a net reduction in passengers

![]() How is this a customer service issue??? The line doesnt exist.
speaking as someone who lives outside templemore, works in roscrea, shops regularly in Thurles and goes to Thurles and Clonmel regularly for work reasons, can I say that this entire idea is so dumb that I thought the thread was some sort of prank. Locked, in the hope that nobody ever mentions it again. Shameful stuff. |
