Default Lyle Langley Luas

Ok, I'm a big fan of Luas even with it's many faults! But this is funny...

I was trying to remember who Lyle Langly was. That is quite good.

AFAIK, the spoof graphic was produced or at least did the rounds in Young Fine Gael a week or so before the Luas opened. This was when Olivia Mitchell was telling us all that Luas would be a failure and nobody would use it and is still given to using phrases such as "luxury" when talking about vital rail projects.

Put a picture of hundreds of 4 Wheel Drives and Mercs parked along the Green if you want to produce a public transport graphic to make Olivia Mitchell happy.

I'm not certain but I don't think Lyle Langley and Leonard Nimoy were in the same episode. Therefor I deduce they did not open the Luas.

Red face

I am such a Simpsons geek.
*blushes behind white tape on Buddy Holly glasses...*

At the grand opening of the Springfield Central Monorail Station,
Kent Brockman reports on the myriad celebrities on-hand for the
occasion, including a tattered Lurleen Lumpkin, fresh from her
(so to speak) stay at the Betty Ford Clinic.

Quimby: And now, I'd like to turn things over to our Grand Marshall,
Mr. Leonard Nimoy.
Nimoy: I'd say this vessel could do at least Warp Five.
[appreciative laughter from the crowd]
Quimby: And let me say, ``May the Force Be With You!''
Nimoy: [annoyed] Do you even know who I am?
Quimby: [indignant] I think I do. Weren't you one of the Little Rascals?
-- ``Marge vs. the Monorail''

I rather liked the Luas, though I only had one trip on it....
