![]() 23:15? I thought the last Maynooth train was 22:30.
No doubt the service has improved immensly. I think both it and the Drogheda commuter service could do with better off peak services. There are still too many hour plus gaps. |

![]() You'd think they'd advertise the fact they are bringing the DART to Maynooth. That would have huge pulling power and I dont mean DC.

There is a massive version of that poster beside a large shopping centre in Maynooth so it is good to see the service being advertised. A clock-face off-paek service i'm sure will arrive with the opening of Sheriff St. station. A late night service ( leaving town around 11-11:15 PM ) would be perfect. |

![]() So why do CIE refuse to provide a regular service at the weekends on the Maynooth and Drogheda lines?
They have no problem packing everyone into the 7am- 9am and 4:30pm - 6:30pm trains and taking everyones 5 euro... But when it comes to the weekend they have massive gaps ?? Its just not on... Its my biggest complaint. I dont mind the limited space as much in the mornings. I understand its the best they can do at present but when you are left with no trains after 8 going into town on a saturday night from Donabate or you have to leave town when its still bright at the weekends. Its a useless service they provide.. |

The off peak to Drogheda is actually not bad, its really quite good and passenger numbers have climbed massively, Sunday isn't great the scale of improvement in the last 5 years is unbelievable Off Peak Maynooth line is actually down to a lack of rolling stock where everything is brought back to Dublin for the rush hour to maximse capacity outbound The major restriction is drivers there aint enough of them we should be looking for two trains an hour all day Be happy the Kildare line has no Sunday service at all and the last train is 22:45 Last edited by Mark Gleeson : 19-05-2006 at 13:39. |
