Default [01/07/2010] Extra Cork-Cobh services / service disruption

Irish Rail

To cater for the cruise liner there will be extra commuter rail services every half hour to and from Cork and Cobh from 13.00hrs until 19.00hrs on Thursday, 1st July. Thereafter our normal commuter rail service will operate from 20.00hrs until 22.30hrs on the day.

This will provide extra capacity and frequency on the C...ork-Cobh Rail Line for the arrival of the cruise liner “Oriana”.

Default [30.06.2010] 15:15 Cork - Midleton is a bus substitution

15:15 Cork - Midleton today is a bus substitution, I presume 15:45 Midleton - Cork will be the same.

Problem is, will passengers waiting @ Little Island or Glounthaune know this. One experience of being @ Little Island waiting for a Cork bound train from Midleton, resulted in a very long wait, as the substituted bus served only the Bus Eireann bus stop and did not come near the station.

Ok, I'm very confused now:
Quote:
Cork-Midleton and Cork -Cobh Lines closed until Friday 2nd July by Corporate Communications

Cork-Midleton and Cork -Cobh Lines will be closed until Friday 2nd July due to essential track maintenance works

A bus transfer will be in operation during this time

Iarnród Éireann apologises for any inconvenience these essential works may cause.

So what, they've suddenly decided to stop services? Given the 15:15 service was a bus, is it buses from now on? Shambolic.

yep likewise!

So all of a sudden for emergency works both commuter services come to a halt.

And this was following an advertisement for extra services tomorrow.

Whats going on?

No chance of a train tomorrow on Cork - Cobh/Midelton

Report suggest a major screw up within Irish Rail has resulted in serious track damage in Cork

Also expect serious problems Cork - Mallow services due to a lack of trains.

But the IE website says (at 0920) that trains are running again.

Can we believe them? The number of half-truths over tha past few days is shocking, even by IE standards.

Is there a particular problem of truly rotten management in Cork?
