UPDATE 2nd July: Southside DART and Gorey commuter returning to normal by Corporate Communications

UPDATE 09.00hrs, 2nd July 2009

The line between Dalkey and Dun Laoghaire is being reopened following earlier flooding.

From now, the northbound line is open, allowing services from Bray, Greystones, Gorey and Rosslare to operate normally.

It is anticipated that the southbound line will reopen at approximately 09.30hrs, allowing services to Bray, Greystones, Gorey and Rosslare to operate normally.

Iarnród Éireann apologises customers for this morning's disruption, caused by torrential rain overnight.

The use of the term normal is not appropriate, things will be far from normal for a number of hours

the section between DL and Dalkey however closes anytime theres a few drops of rain - could they not do something about the drainage there (and the ridiculous walking-pace linespeed while they're at it).

A huge amount of work was done in 2000 to fix the drainage, it worked for a few years and then trouble started. The line should not flood

Well, if they kept the drains clean, it might help. I'm not sure exactly where floods (I had a look recently), but a lot of the drains around Sandycove could do with the removal of grit, dirt and litter.
