we have just been informed that the incoming train will not arive until 5pm. boarding is expected soon after arrival. I presume leaving sometime arfound 17.30

suposed due to an earlier failure at malahide, no mention of any failures on IE website or on the local signage? ...the train finally left at 17.16

The Drogheda-Pearse service which forms the 18.15 Pearse-Drogheda suffered delays around 17.30 (a guess!). Nothing on the IE website @ 17.45.
Due to these inbound delays, the returns service started from Connolly instead. Although late leaving Connolly, they held a Malahide bound DART (sensible!), hence it made up a lot of the delay en-route.
Still after a 20 min delay inbound this morning, and more delays home this evening, not a good day on the Northern Suburban line
