The language is a bit extreme: "vast majority". It seems they are trying to downplay the situation rather than using their announcement to inform people of the cancellations.

What do you think Mark?

Also, including Monday in a post referring to "this weekend" is not really that clever either.

Cheeky putting two or three cancellations on one line also. They can't seem to group them by time or route properly.

I've said it before, but the whole approach of IE to this thing is a joke.

So, the vast majority of trains will operate normally . . . well, whoop-de-doo.

We are not in any kind of state of emergency, we are not under martial law, there have been no recent terrorist attacks. All trains should operate normally.

The fact that IE have not been given a right kick up the behind by the press, the politicians, lobby groups, or anyone is very surprising. I really cannot understand how there hasn't been more of a fuss made by Joe Public. I saw a post in the last few days where the last train to <somewhere> was cancelled - if I was expecting to get the last train home and found out that just a few hours earlier that day they had announced they weren't going to run it, I would not be impressed.

Any ideas how they are going to spin this in terms of reliablity statistics ? I imagine there won't be any new posters up next year saying "99.x% of our trains ran as scheduled last year" - they will probably leave the old ones up from last year. I take it that it's too much to hope that there are any penalty clauses to be expected for consistently cancelling x% of your trains for months on end ?

The reason is there is no fuss is there is blackout at the request of the LRC

Irish Rail continue to hide whats going on in Cork, they will be in for a surprise tomorrow morning hopefully
