![]() Whats the difference between Mini CTC and Mainline CTC? I am guessing its a larger more expensive system to install (Mainline as opposed to Mini?)

![]() Basically mainline CTC uses track circuts to note what trains are in which blocks.
Mini CTC usues axle counters at stations and junctions to check a train into a block, no other train can then go into that block until the train is checked out at another axle counter. But if the train goes over an axle counter when the power is off, the signalling system won't have a clue where anything is. |

![]() In my experience, delays due to signal failures are more frequent and more severe now than they were back in the semaphore days on the Sligo line.
That is quite damning. Money is being saved, but the service improvements we were promised have not materialised.
