Cherry Orchard will remain open until Park West station opens, probable Cherry Orchard will close one evening after the last train and Park West open the following morning.

Park West will be manned all day and be fully accessible to latest standards

Obviously it will be at least a year possibly more before the change happens and it will be advertised.

Now live in the area so obviously am an interested party

No construction, preliminary or otherwise, has started on site, so i'd say you're looking at minimum 2 years until its ready.

The planning app is dated September 06 & includes the construction of a large concourse / plaza over the track with usual marketing talk of retail / restaurants etc. Model was seemingly on display in city council offices, ballyfermot.

oh, so quite a sizeable undertaking then. If all these additional services are attached to it, then it will be very well monitored and taken care of - quite a change from the unattended obstacle course we are currently faced with Sounds great !

Looks like work might just have started at Park West, construction workers began yesterday clearing an access path from roadway down to the rail track at the site of the new station.

I know for sure that the start of work at Hazlehatch is imminent.

New Parkwest Train Station & Plaza
May 2007

The Parkwest Train Station & Plaza is being developed privately by Airscape for integration into the Kildare Route Project on the main Dublin to Cork rail line and is located adjacent to the existing Parkwest Avenue within Parkwest Industrial Estate. The scope of the project includes for the construction of a new railway station building and platforms primarily consisting of two main reinforced concrete stair / lift cores supporting a concourse deck, approximately 500sq.m in area, which shall span both the existing and proposed new rail tracks approximately 5m above existing track level. The concourse shall in turn support a Teflon fabric covered steel spaceframe roof which shall cover the entire concourse. The station is similar to the recently constructed Adamstown Station. The railway station shall be accessed from the existing Parkwest Avenue rail overbridge via a new plaza area, approximately 900sq.m in area, which shall be constructed alongside the station building structure. The rail track will be serviced from two new 200m long platform structures located on the north and south side of the existing tracks. The overall project value is estimated at €8M, with a contract duration of 45 weeks beginning on 5th June, 2007.

Thank you - it wasn't obvious to me at all, so this is good information.
