[27/10/2012-02/11/2012] Bridge works: Drumcondra closed and line disruption

Iarnród Éireann is to undertake planned maintenance works on North Strand Bridge near Dublin City Centre from Saturday 27th October to Friday 2nd November.



These works will result in some service and platform alterations for Maynooth, M3 Parkway and Sligo services, as trains will operate via the Canal End railway line during this time. For the duration of these works Drumcondra Station will remain closed as a result. The dates of works have been chosen to coincide with the mid-term break for schools and colleges, to minimise impact on commuters.



Service and platform alterations are as follows:



Maynooth line

Services will operate as normal except for a small number of services between Tuesday 30th October and Friday 2nd November operating to/from Docklands Station instead of Connolly/Pearse. These are:

- 06.20 Maynooth-Pearse, 07.45 Maynooth-Connolly, 16.55 Maynooth-Connolly and 18.20 Maynooth-Pearse services will operate to Docklands Station instead

- 07.12 Connolly-Maynooth will operate as a 07.13 Docklands-Maynooth

- 15.55 Pearse-Maynooth will operate as a 16.08 Docklands-Maynooth

- 18.10 Connolly-Maynooth will operate as a 18.12 Docklands-Maynooth



M3 Parkway

All M3 Parkway services will operate to and from Docklands station during this time including weekend services.



Sligo/Longford services

All Sligo and Longford services will operate to and from Platform 7 in Connolly. In addition, from Tuesday 30th October to Friday 2nd November only the 09.05 Connolly to Sligo service will be amalgamated with the 09.10 Pearse-Maynooth service, operating from Pearse and serving all stations to Maynooth (except Drumcondra), and arriving in Sligo at the slightly later time of 12.33hrs.



Drumcondra Station

Drumcondra Station will remain closed throughout these works.

What is the "Canal End railway line" ?

The line that runs along the canal and meets the Maynooth line west of Drumcondra. They could of worded it better.

Off topic but how will the Ballina-N Wall operate as the canal line meets just after the tunnel turns off and I dont think a loco run round is possible.

Ok, they are using GAA speak and assuming everybody understands !

As regards the freight services to Ballina, my guess is Irish Rail will find the shunt required at Glasnevin far too commplicated to organise and will in all probability cancel the service while the line is closed at North Strand Junction.

Expect North Strand Junction to be renewed during the course of this closure.

Also I suspect that we might see the long awaited infrastructure upgrade at Clonsilla come to fruition over the October weekend. Dunboyne/M3 Parkway users beware !

Can't see that going down well with the company. The ship that sails from Dublin called at Waterford port so they may operate a few down there for
the week.

The Irish Rail notice indicates that all M3 Parkway services will operate to/from Docklands from October 30th to November 2nd. Does this really mean that the 1905, 1935 and 2200 from M3 Parkway will operate to Docklands ?

19:05 absolutely will since there is a 19:05 off Connolly
