Ross claims cover-up over CIE investigation
Updated: 12:32, Wednesday, 13 October 2010

It has been claimed that there is a cover-up going on in the Houses of the Oireachtas about the investigation into CIE.

Independent Senator Shane Ross has told the Seanad that there is a cover-up going on in the Houses of the Oireachtas about the investigation into CIE.

He said CIE had been protected by the Government on several occasions.

Mr Ross said the investigation has been frustrated by the 'absolute refusal' of the non-executive directors to come before the Transport Committee to give evidence about corporate governance at the company, supported, he said, by the Government.

He said 'something murky' was going on.

Mr Ross said Fianna Fáil committee members voted down a request for a key-witness to come before the Committee, despite the fact that the people on the other side of the case had already been before the Committee.
