Default [22-7-2008] Green Line Disruption

AA Roadwatch

Quote:
22/7/2008 LUAS - Green Line Service disrupted
Green Line Luas services are only operating between Sandyford and Beechwood and tickets are valid on Dublin Bus. The disruption has been caused by an incident with an outbound tram on the Luas Green Line which is blocking traffic on Cuffe Street and Stephens Green south (between the Stephans Green and Harcourt Luas Stops).

Traffic on Leeson Street is already badly affected, take Earlsfort Terrace as an alternative. Traffic is also tailing back on Kevin Street and Harcourt Street.

Emergency services and Gardai are at the scene and it is not expected to clear before 3pm.

A pedestrian was struck by a Luas tram today causing traffic disruption in Dublin’s city centre.

The 60-year-old man is believed to have stepped out in front of the Green Line tram as it entered Harcourt Street from St Stephen’s Green.

He was rushed to St James’s Hospital, where his injuries were said to be minor.

The accident happened at around 2.20pm, with the Green Luas line reopening in both directions just less than an hour later.

The west and south roads of St Stephen’s Green were closed to traffic, causing tail backs on Kevin Street and around the Green.

GardaÃ* said motorists faced delays in the area for some time.
