![]() Are annual rail tickets available to those commuters who are not in a position to avail of the Taxsaver scheme? I've checked the Irish Rail website and the only obvious option is to use the Taxsaver scheme if it is available to you.

![]() Where are the annual tickets available for cash purchase?
The section annual tickets on the Irish Rail website has this: Who is eligible for this ticket? Adults What are the conditions of travel? Annual Tickets are valid for a 12 month period from the first day of any month to the following year. For more information and to see how much you can save, go to our Taxsaver website. Where can I buy this ticket? Online: No Ticket Machines: No Ticket Offices: No When I go to the Taxsaver website, as suggested, I see this (http://www.taxsaver.ie/Commuters/How-to-get-started/): You will have to get the company you work with to purchase a taxsaver Monthly and Annual ticket on your behalf. |

![]() I would suggest either going to or phoning your local station and asking there.
Depending on the distance of your commute and if you get the the odd day from home, the annual ticket for cash may not really be worthwhile. I commute from Edgeworthstown on the Sligo line and find that a monthly ends up costing about the same as 17 day returns and as I travel 3 or 4 days a week, a monthly is actually more expensive than buying day returns. Even the extra discount for an annual makes it barely break even so the only real reason for a long-distance commuter buying a monthly or annual ticket for cash is if you travel more than 17 times a month. |

![]() On my route (Dundalk-Belfast) a monthly ticket is cheaper than day returns if you travel 12 or more times in the month.
