![]() Can anyone let me know if Rail Users Ireland is one of the groups who the NTA consult about fare zones ?
Does anyone know if the NTA have plans to change the city centre zone to include Grand Canal Dock & Lansdowne. Getting a daily return ticket from Donabate to Pearse costs €5.80 but then jumps by €3.40 to €9.20 for the extra stop to Grand Canal or Lansdowne. With the same ticket I could then go to any stop on the Short Hop zone, all the way to Bray if I wanted ![]() ![]() The crazy thing is that if Lansdowne & Grand Canal were brought into the city centre zones and the fares adjusted to a reasonable level then the level of fare evasion would drop and Irish Rail probably wouldn't be at a nett loss for the change !! |

![]() Its €7.25 return Donabate to Grand Canal Dock, €3.30 single on leap card
There is no €9.20 fare, but there is a €9.60 one which applies to Donabate to Lansdowne Road It is likely that Lansdowne Road would remain outside any city centre zone if one was provided

The NTA are inclined to revise fares where they see anomalies, but that will see some fares rise as well as some falling. You can see the fares here: http://www.railusers.ie/passenger_in...atrix_2013.php
