The empty train probably turned back before Heuston to scramble to Tralee
The real problem in Heuston is it is controlled locally, while everything west of Inchicore is controlled from somewhere else so there is a lack of information of what train is where on the approach.
There is of course a need to make sure the trains sent out are the right length for the following morning and that a train due maintenance is not sent to somewhere it won't be allowed come back from due to being out of hours
