First Class Question?
Recently travelled to Cork on the 09:00 and returned the same day. I heard that the tea/coffee just on the First Class Coach was complementary from Iarnrod Eireann is this true?

I know from travelling 1st Plus on the Enterprise train that they give you a free glass of juice and a newspaper.
|
They'd want to for the €30 supplement.
|
Well I for one cannot see the difference in First and Standard class. On the Cork InterCity i perfer standard its more colourful than the First class coach......I would highly suggest standard class than first..........
|
There are only three seats across the carriage in first class. Although there are some other perks, the extra space is the main thing you're paying for.
|
power points at each seat in first class.
In other classes there are power sockets at each end of the carriage. So people with laptops try and take the end seats, but for example on the lavatory end of the Mk4 carriages there is at least 6 feet between the seat and the socket. I predict that after the first person trips over a laptop power cord and sues Iarnrod Eireann they will not be allowed use them there any more :) [ I nearly tripped yesterday and got a vicious look from the laptop owner ] |
22k fleet has power sockets at every seat
Seats 5 & 6 on the Mk4 standard have a power socket behind, but only those in first class are properly certified for passenger use since they incorporate the trip switch |
Oh I know the 22's do, but this is the Dublin-Cork thread
and yes seats 5 and 6 on the non-loo end, but also there's sockets opposite the jax door which people are plugging into on a long lead, which is what I was talking about. |
22k has stood in for a Mk4 in the past and will run the Tralee service in coming months
Long term its probably much much cheaper to simply buy a second battery than pay the now massive first class surcharge just for a socket Of course if the internal doors worked the sockets at the toilet end would be unusable |

worked for me, wonder what happened to your one? |
Hint here, plug power supply in first, then connect to the laptop. If that fails you may have a dodgy laptop power supply. Have no complaints of the trip switches tripping.
Just don't plug in something crazy like a hair dryer or microwave, and yes it has happened! |
