Cork Dublin is not hourly

Remember we where promised a hourly service Cork Dublin in 2005?

Well it arrived this year, well not really
Cork Dublin direct
5:15
6:30
7:30
9:30
10:30

Note the missing 8:30, its a railcar to Mallow and a change into the Tralee which incidentally is the fastest Cork Dublin journey

As usual the IE story doesn't match up

Cork-Dublin Intercity services – Hourly service, brand new fleet

A new hourly, clockface timetable service in each direction is being introduced on the Cork-Dublin route. With the new €117 million CAF Intercity fleet, the service will bring customers greater choice, capacity, quality and comfort than ever before.

Services will depart Dublin Heuston every hour on the hour from 07.00hrs to 21.00hrs, and will depart Cork Kent at 5.15hrs, and then every hour at half past the hour from 06.30hrs to 20.30hrs.

Sunday services will also see increased frequency on the Cork-Dublin route.

Huh ?

Mark,

Am I understanding you correctly ? The fastest way to get by train from Cork to Dublin is to change trains rather than take the direct train ? If this is the case it just goes to show how poor our timetable provisioning is.

Curious isn't it?
