A dig at Independent Group Newspapers?
 

Many of us will remember the RPA dig at the fatcats in the IFSC with the mercs shown in their EIS of Mayor Square stop. Now, has anyone looked closely at the Abbey St frontage shown on the flyer they sent to everyone? It clearly shows a Luas tram whizzing by the (former) offices of Independent Group newspapers! You have to laugh.:D

Speaking of newspapers. What is the committee recomended sunday paper?not the sindo I hope.

The Indo has had some shocking journalism on transport matters in recent years almost tabloid, we all remember the Mk4 article...............

Not only on transport IMO.

No "almost" about it.
Also no "Independent" about it.

A name change would do them good......
 

How about "The Oxymoron", "The Freemasons Journal", or "The Sunday Glenda Gilson". At least we could respect them for being a *little* more honest. Not only is it an insult to the word "Independent", it's also an insult to the word "Irish", considering the way they slime up to the infallable almighty e.u. (All bow in hushed reverence.....) Of course "Sir" A****** has nowt to do with that, yeah and pigs fly (Ignore case study of Battersea Power Station, "Animals" circa 1977:eek: ). Check out their old editions on microfilm, just as bad. Out of utter boredom, I checked out on microfilm in college recently, a June 1985 copy. The usual patronising captions underneath women who graduated from college (not just a pretty face type ballsology) whiney letters from "taxpayers" about "the yoof of today", utterly retarded and banal comments in the t.v. review section (check out pop festival on bbc1, the day after Springsteen in Slane, "Hair of the Dog" for Springsteen fans, says the chump, of a gig that features *Phillip Bailey*, *Culture Club*, etc!!! Dumbwad....) These days of course, it's extreme political correctness, ultra pretentious "arts" reviews, etc, but still the same general air of gombeenism, and shape shifting crowd pleasing. Ever notice that dirtcheap habit they have of playing up minor flaws their competitors ocassionally make.....? Really cheap, folks, really cheap......

I think the typo in the name of this thread (presume it was meant to be a "dig" rather than a "did") is a homage to o'reillys paper!

And he can only be "Sir" while he is being a tax exile as it is against the constitution to have or use a title (Sir, Lord etc.) in Ireland.

Anyway, Sir Anthony O'Reilly is actually a UK Citizen and is perfectly entitled to recieve his knighthood and it is therefore nothing to do with the Irish Government nor the constitution.

But they all do that. For example, the Irish Mail on Sunday has the Spike Column and the phoenix has long since called the S.I. The duckworth School of Journalism.

Let's try to keep out dislike for any paper or journalist in terms of their transport coverage in future, ok.?
