Not a good day for Longford commuters today.
Everything ran 40 minutes or more slower this morning due to a vehicle hitting a level crossing. I suppose Irish Rail can't legislate for idiots.
I'm currently on the 18:05 to Longford which is about 10k from Mullingar now so is running somewhere around 40 minutes late due to a fault on the 17:15. A good chunk of the delay was waiting to cross with the 17:00 from Sligo. |
Yep was on the 18.40 to maynooth. It crawled all the way to clonsilla and then sat just outside clonsilla for nearly 10 minutes. The driver apologised for the trouble citing earlier problems on the line.
|
One thing I've noticed in the last few incidents is that the drivers seem to have gotten much better at passing on information and apologising to passengers.

Because there are people watching now, and if they don't the NTA is on the phone to point out that its a contract requirement

i was on 9:05am to Sligo , only held up 10mins at maynooth and arrived in Sligo on time ,
i was also on 13:00pm to Connolly , which was only held up at Edgeworthstown /mostrim for 10mins but , in mullingar 5min late on time by maynooth ! |
Delays at Edgeworthstown are usually intentional. Most up-trains are given 20 minutes to cover the 8 miles between Longford and Edgeworthstown to allow them to be in plenty of time for crossing.
|
Is Edgeworthstown still the driver changeover point, or is that Longford now? Or is it even done any more?
