Any danger of a ticket machine being installed on the city bound platform side?

I don't know the specifics, but there is a general trend towards more ticket vending machines. We have contact with the relevant people in Irish Rail and will pass on the comment.

thanks i really feel this would benefit everyone, the passenger and irish rail. i sometimes get stuck on the other side purchasing my ticket then the level crossing closes and its a sprint up and over the bridge to make the train before it pulls out.

It would also be incredibly helpful if they made announcements at Ashtown.

The 11.05 from Maynooth to Connolly was cancelled last Friday but yet no announcement was made at Ashtown until 11.46 (the train being due at Ashtown at 11.33). Cue twenty people (elderly people, women with young children) trunding down to the Navan Road to catch a bus which would leave them nowhere near Connolly.

Irish Rail knew by 11.05 AT THE VERY LATEST that the train was cancelled but yet never bothered their backsides making an announcement at Ashtown until thirteen minutes AFTER the train was due.

11.33 train departed 11.48 today. No announcement made. The guy I spoke to in Iarnrod Eireann said there was FOG on the line! He was pretty curt.

The driver on the Maynooth line doesn't actually have to see the signals since they have cab signaling over the whole route

Yes it would cause delay but nowhere as much you they might want to claim

It was particularly galling today as there was a group of about a dozen physically disabled teenagers (some in wheelchairs) and their assistants waiting for the train.

The lack of consideration in making an announcement is mind-boggling.

Ashtown Level Crossing
 

Ashtown Level Crossing is becoming as bad as the Riellys Bridge further down the line at cabra/broombridge. Particulary bad at peak time.

There are plans to close all level crossings on the Maynooth line

You do have access to the footbridge at all times which is better than some other stations

yes in fairness thats right, no good for cars though.

They are suposed to be getting more TMV by next summer weather thats changed recently I don't know.
