Can they get anything right?

So there is a match in Lansdowne on Wednesday and there are extra trains to carry the fans
So we have this on the IE site 11:30 Cork to Connolly (14:28) 14:10 Limerick to Connolly (16:32) And 22:40 from Connolly return But neither are extra trains since the 11:30 and 14:10 are normal service trains and terminate in Heuston at the quoted times Attachment 266 Attachment 267 |
I have always wondered why Grand Canal Dock is closed in the event of a match at Lansdowne.
Anyone any ideas? |
It would be too convenient to patrons going to the north terrace and it would take some of the pressure of lansdowne road station. Did someone say CIE were a public service company?
|
Note these trains terminate in Connolly.
If you're a football fan, IE can deliver you. If you're a regular user, you can go and get stuffed. Further proof that paths through the Park Tunnel are alive and well. Please note that for last years FAI cup final, a "special" from the Cork line arrived in Connolly at 5 o clock on a Friday evening. They are some bunch of spin doctors. George W. Bush and the Israeli Government should hire them. |
None of these trains actually reach Connolly they all terminate in Heuston thats the point the website says they go to Connolly but they don't
|
Hmmm.... we'll see. Big Typo? or will these trains actually run to Connolly?
The banana skin, looks like the 22.40 return from Connolly. |
the 14:10 ex Limerick and 11:30 ex Cork will terminate in Heuston no question they will not Connolly as quoted
the 22:40 will run from Connolly |
They could stop the trains at Heuston Platform 10 for regular users, then reverse back out & head through the Park Tunnel to Connolly for the footie fans, but somehow I can't imagine IE having the sense to do that...
Or just run an ACTUAL special through to Connolly... :) Re. them closing Grand Canal Dock on match days, I'd imagine it's for "crowd control" reasons, like the way close to match kick off they stop the northbound DARTs at Sandymount & skip Lansdowne Road. The local residents would probably object to trains stopping at Grand Canal Dock as well... |

Seriously people, I'm all for banter but can we not turn every thread into which team we support.
|
Well, the last posts are about the Mayo football special.
And the thread title could well apply to Pillar and the management team. And you are right, Paul, we should keep it on - topic lads. |
The 2 GAA specials to Westport & Ballina both went from Connolly after the match.

So next Wednesday there are 2 special trains from Connolly back to Cork and Limerick If you buy online you are told that the trains ex Cork are 11:30 and 13:30 ex Limerick 14:10 i.e the normal service trains but are shown as serving Connolly when they only reach Heuston, once again words fail me Attachment 351 |
