And the suffering continues
(That train goes on to Longford) Any idea what the problem is. Are the Commuter railcars still on the Sligo line? A few of the older railcars were running on the maynooth line last week, thats not normal Last edited by ThomasJ : 11-02-2008 at 17:10. |

What I know is a 6 car 2800 set is running it tonight, front destination display broken as well
29k railcars continue to make the trek to Sligo which is making life difficult

Thanks Mark for the info.
I normally get that train but will go and get the 18:15 Docklands Clonsilla or get a later one instead. |

17:32 ex Bray / 18:18 ex Connolly to Longford
I went to get that train at Pearse last night....
I arrived at Pearse two minutes beforehand, there was a manual announcement saying that the next train due was the 18.09 service to Longford and appologised to passengers for the reduction in capacity to the service. When the train arrived at Pearse, it was already packed. I managed to squeeze inside the door and you could see people hurrying down towards the end of the train to try and find a space to get on. The train moved on and arrived at Tara Street. 2 or 3 passengers got off and another 2 or 3 managed to get on my carriage. This was also the case of people moving down trying to find a space to get on at Tara Street. Things were getting bad and at Connolly Station and as I wasn't feeling the best, i thought to myself i dont need this and decided to get off at connolly but it was a struggle had to shove my way through to get off. Anyway as I got off, there was a woman walking up the platform went to shove on the carriage and I could hear her saying f**k this I'm not getting on that and got off. A few other people you could see traying to get on but couldn't. The train, after 3 or 4 attempts to close doors drove off. Bearing in mind this is midterm week, I would hate to imagine what this train will be like once schools come back to normal the sooner capacity returns the better!!! |

The intercity trains on the Sligo route are not all the new trains yet either.
On Tuesday, on the inevitable wait outside Maynooth for the 17:05 ex Sligo to pass the train was one of the typical commuter carriages. |

Will be a 6 coach tonight, the same 6 coach set is floating around
If you can head for Docklands or wait for the 19:05 to Sligo which is empty Edit: Confirmed will be 6 coaches its on its way out to Bray right now

The crowding on the 18:18 wasn't bad this evening for some reason... maybe word is spreading that it's one to avoid!

I took that train last night (20/02/2008) to Connolly from Lansdowne Road. It was an 8-coach 29k set. Also noticed that there was one or two 2800 sets including a 6-coach on the 18:05 Connolly Longford, it was heading back from Longfordwhen I was going home.
Good to see that the capacity problems might finally be over. There was also a 2*3 coaches Intercity railcar in Connolly platform 4 last night around 6:20pm . The thing is the destination boards etc. were displaying Heuston as the destination. Maybe the extra railcars have been sent over from Heuston to connolly and put into service? 6 more went into service yesterday, last time that didn't result in matters changing
The 8 on the 18:18 and 6 on the 18:05 would indicate the stock shortage has been solved
