The crew in Heuston can't cope when something goes wrong
If the 17:50 had died, even to the level of the PA failing, a member of staff should have walked through a) Its broke b) Passengers for a,b,c go to platform x etc Most folks would want the 18:05 service, passengers off the 18:00 would be on the 18:30. Customer services live on a different planet. There was an internal investigation several years ago after a tripple train failure, lots of promises but appears no follow through.
