just heard on the radio that the 22ks are being unveiled again today. Does this mean the remainder of the railcars are coming into service today?

Today is the first day where all services Dublin - Sligo are operated by the new fleet

Of course this was meant to happen last autumn

Red carpet was out with Irish, Japanese and Korean flags, and a big arch over the gate saying "welcome aboard". But not for passengers on the 9.05, apparently - there were announcements telling them to use platform 1.

Does this mean that there will be a Ministerial or some other kind official "launch" each time a route is converted to 22k operation. Fits in with the tendency to have about 5 re-announcements of most infrastructure projects.

Same happened on the Cork line. There is a considerable amount of guilt in the department and IE over the 29k debacle on the Sligo route so maybe that is why there is such a thing today about it.

Of course, having faster, more reliable trains on this route brings its own problems, and no red carpet is going to fix that soon

"There is a considerable amount of guilt in the department and IE over the 29k debacle on the Sligo route " Aw come on! Those guys never feel guilty about anything. Smugness, complacency, and so on... but if they ever had any feelings of guilt about the shorcomings of public transport they would all have had breakdowns long ago.

This morning at Connolly, the flags were gone, the red carpet was nowhere to be seen and a good owl 29000 commuter railcar awaited those travelling on the 09.05 to Sligo.

O, if only IE were as good at timetabling as they are at theatrics.

The 9.05 was a 29k again this morning. This means that not only are Sligo passengers getting a sub-standard service, commuters on actual commuter routes are being subjected to short trains and excessive overcrowding.

Exactly 3 weeks on from the "launch" - 09.05 Connolly-Sligo is still 29000 commuter railcar

The 05.45 up service from Sligo was 22000 but arrived 30+ mins late at Connolly

Default 22k on Sligo line

Are Dublin-Sligo trains now 100% 22K and if not is there a date for it happening?

General laziness within Irish Rail is the reason

Just spotted a three coach 22k heading inbound on the sligo line. Good to see they have started to run three coaches on the sligo line meaning they can assign the rest of the intercity railcars to the sligo line and put the commuter railcars back where they belong.
