Default [30-6-2008] Portarlington security alert causing Inter City delays

16.00hrs Monday 30th June

Iarnród Éireann advises customers that Intercity services passing through Portarlington are currently delayed due to a security alert in the station area.

Gardaí are currently attending at the station.

Services currently affected are:

14.15hrs Limerick to Heuston

13.10hrs Westport to Heuston

15.25 Heuston to Limerick

These services are expected to be delayed by up to 60 minutes.

It is hoped that the situation will be resolved quickly.

14.30hrs Cork to Heuston - 40 minutes delay
16.00hrs Heuston to Cork - 25 minutes delay

Curiously no reports in the media currently of anything serious

The 1330 Cork-Heuston passed without any aparent problems.

There was however a grating noise from the track.
