Smile West coast rail link.

As a first division country, Ireland should have a rail link from Cork to Derry. Thanks to common sense prevailing, the line North from Athenry is still in position. Grants are available from the EU for rail infrastructure yet do not appear to have been applied for. Can the line be used at the present? If so it should be possible to run a charter train up and down the line say from Galway to Sligo, say two trips each way to enable residents of these Cities to visit each other on a day trip. Theoretically the train should be packed. Shall we give it a whirl? Robert Sayers.
