Default Breaking journey on Intercity

I know I should know this, but all these rules confuse me sometimes.

If I buy a return from Dublin to Sligo, can I break my journey for an hour or so at Maynooth?
Does it make a difference if it's a web fare special rate?

If I can't break my journey, can I just buy the web fare ticket for use from Maynooth onward, and a single from Connolly to Maynooth? (since you can't book online from Maynooth) Presumably doing this means my seat reservation is no longer guaranteed?

Sorry for all the questions!

On a normal intercity ticket you may break the journey.

Web fares must be used on the train specified, conditions for use on other trains later in the day may result in extra charges.

If a seat is marked reserved it is reserved and it is an offense in the by laws to occupy it unless you are the named ticket holder

Thanks Mark. The T+Cs helpfully state:

"If a Standard or Premier reservation has been made a customer may travel in standard class on another train that day as long as the journey is similar and the replacement train is not fully reserved. A supplement fare may be applicable. "

Think I'll just get it for the later train, get a commuter to maynooth, and if they have an issue with that, I'll get a single for that part.

Thanks
