Default Light Rail for Naas

This weeks leading story in the Leinster Leader is reporting the development of a Light Rail line in conjunction with the planned developments in the Osberstown area of Naas. Also known as the west quadrant. Its located in the same area as the Millenium Park, which came to pretty much nothing in the end. The developers promise a light rail service from the development through Naas town and on to Naas General Hospital. Interestingly, the Naas Town Councillor who first mentioned this hairbrained idea (I say that with all due respect to him) is pictured with a Director of the development elsewhere in the paper in an unrelated article. Im not suggesting anything untoward, just assuming that the Developer has gracefully included the idea to eh... help it a bit.

An idea like that is totally and utterly unnecessary. Naas town council have a disasterous record in understanding and promoting Public Transport. The local bus service stopped years ago, due to interference from them. Instead of promoting an off the wall impossibility, they and their developer friends should be funding and addressing the need for local bus based transport that benefit the entire town. Subsidise it if need be, but provide it.

By golly there`s a quare few votes in this one...!
Now all we need is some form of inventive link between Jim Mansfield and the Naas People and the Nuas is up and running...Come to think of it we could have a spur runnning from Naas to Weston International Airport too.. : )
