Due to a mechanical fault, the 18.05hrs Heuston to Portlaoise and 19.35hrs Portlaoise to Heuston services are cancelled this evening, Tuesday 12th January.

The 18:05, once a reliable service, seems to be undergoing a spate of cancellations and delays. At least two cancellations have occurred in recent times while standing at the platform 15-20 mins after normal departure followed by a scramble to other services.

Today it was delayed by 10 mins as the train did not arrive until 18:10 but, at least it overtook the 18:10 (Newbridge) on the 4-track section using the 'fast' platforms at Adamstown and Hazelhatch and was only 5 mins late at Kildare.
