I just remembered about one of my trips on the dart on la le Phadraig, there were no maps and no announcements of stops and no working display in the carriage I was in.

Red face on train information

It might interest all that none of the railcars in the Limerick area have any destination indicators at all, at all

We know this, those railcars never had destinations shown when in Dublin either

In response to a written query I'm told electronic displays are on order to rectify this, the first batch where due February

7:18 Drogheda Bray
Clearly wasn't showing Bray for what is now the 7th day in a row.
It was very confused today

12:30 Connolly Tallaght Luas
Showing Out of Service but most definitely in service
Was informing people to change for Crumlin Hospital and the next stop on the LED panel

18:35 Heuston Thurles
Garbled PA just as the doors closed, at each stop thereafter the PA chimed but nothing was said because the member of staff didn't wait for the chime to sound he just starting talking instantly

What is it with the 07.18 Drogheda-Bray? Does it appear daily here not because it's expectional but because it happens to be the train you take every day? Is there some bolshy driver rostered for it; or is it the same rolling stock which is faulty?

Maybe you should only post about the 0718 when all systems actually work: that would be news!

17:31 Connolly to Drogheda (originating in Bray)

Displays and announcements working, but between Laytown and Drogheda, the internal display read something like:

Quote:
.mroftalp eht dna niart eht neewteb pag eht dnim esaelp niart eht gnivael sregnessaP .pots lanif eht si sihT .adehgorD si noitats txen ehT
I kid you not - the whole message was backwards.

Rhigt ttahs a sanrgte one, the haumn mnid can hdalne jblmeud up ltetres but bwrdackas is a ltilte far

Still with me good

And the translation is

The next station is Drogheda. This is the last stop. Passengers leaving the train please mind the gap between the train and the platform.

I'm sure that should be

The next station is Drogheda. This is the last stop. Passengers leaving the train at Drogheda please mind the gap between the train and the platform.

I programed LCD character displays enos ago and you simply can't have that kind of error, computers read forward they don't read backwards

I haven't done much with LCDs, but I agree it's very strange. Computers don't generally make that sort of error. And it only did it for one stop (that I noticed). The message I quoted was from memory, so it may not be exact. I think there was something about making sure you take your belongings with you in there too. The message seemed perfect except reversed, and not very readable.

Oh, and in place of the Irish translation was simply "06".
