[18-1-2010] 18:05 to Portlaoise 3-car
The normally nearly-full 6-car 18:05 to Portlaoise was run as a 3-car today which meant many people standing to Hazelhatch. It also left from platform 7 rather than 2/3/4 so perhaps it was yet another substitution.
Hopefully this is not a permanent change. |

The 18:00 Cork train made additional stops at Kildare, Portarlington and Portlaoise. Train arrived in Kildare around 6:33pm. It was nice to get home earlier than normal. The 18:05 is becoming very unreliable.

Missed that announcement! Since the 1805 was down at P7 there was no time for checking for alternatives.
So it looks like a substitution for yet another failed 18:05. The 18:05 used to be a very reliable service. Wonder why it's getting worse? Since it's going to Portlaoise, are they gathering the most troublesome units for a one-way trip? |

The 0720 Portlaoise - Heuston was cancelled this morning (22nd). The 0610 ex Waterford made additional stops at Sallins, Hazelhatch (passengers on wrong platform) and Admastown and was packed by then.

It was a 3-car on Friday last too, i.e. 4 June. It was my first time in ages to get it though so I wasn't sure if it had become the norm.

Other times when it was a 3-car, the 1800 Cork train made extra stops take take some of the load. Don't think this happened yesterday - no '*' in the screens. |

Again this evening with people standing all the way to Kildare.
There appears to be an increase in passenger numbers recently perhaps due to the mayhem at Rathcoole.... This is not the time to be cutting back on capacity. |

There was a 22k that failed in Athlone earlier in the day. Could be related, possibly.

On at least three evenings last week and again today, the 18:05 was a 3 car. Standing room only from about 10min before departure.
Is this a permanent change? Hope not. |

If it was a 3car set on Friday that may of being because of the 16:35 to Waterford. On Friday it was a 6car set (no premier class) but it normally 2by3car set.

The 18:05 is becoming a 3 car more and more often and i am avoiding it as much as i can as i pay enough for my ticket without having to stand all the way home as well.

The 3-car 18:05 continues into 2011 with 2 out of 3 services a 3-car.
Have they sacrificed the 18:05 to provide a 22K for the M3-Parkway service?? |

Nope, Dunboyne is 4 coach 29k/28k
A 22k set appears in the morning due a rostering issue with Gorey and overnight works
