Default Seat reservations

Is it just me or has there been a decline in seat reservation notices being put up? December was the last time I travelled with a reservation and it was properly displayed.

My sister was booked from Mallow on the morning Tralee-Dublin train on Saturday and there were no reservations up at all. Needless to say her seat was taken, and on enquiring of train staff she was told they were not putting up reservation notices any more because people had been booking tickets using swearwords or other jokes instead of the name!

Surely, if this is a real issue, they can put up something saying "This seat is reserved" rather than just the name? Otherwise, seat reservations become meaningless...

Surely using "Seat reserved" should have been the way to do it all along. Personally I wouldn't be overjoyed sitting there with my name displayed overhead for all to see. I'm not paranoid, honest!

Or "Seat reserved" followed by the first 3 letters of the surname and the last 4 numbers of the booking number or initials or whatever.
