Default [10 /03/08 - 6:31 Drogheda - Rosslare Europort Cancelled

Passengers were advised to take the 6:46 Drogheda - Pearse instead. This did make an untimetabled stop in Laytown to pick up passengers.

There was a passenger who was put live on air on Newstalk to describe his experiences on it. He said that the replacement train was only four carriages long and there were people fainting and being sick due to overcrowding.

Apparently Barry Kenny had been in touch and said that one train had been cancelled but there was no reduced capacity on any other service this morning.

I suspect Newstalk breakfast show might take up the mantle of the defenders of the Northern line commuters as they have been doing for the Maynooth line for the past few months.

The 'replacement train' was just the regular 6:46 train that we were advised to get on at 6:40, when the 6:31 train wasn't showing up. Train seemed fairly long to me ( >4 cars) as I was walking down to the end carriages.

Train was overcrowded (but how many trains aren't overcrowded these days), and the journey was made very unpleasant by a large amount of unwashed people getting on and the lack of windows that opened in the carriage so I'd agree that the air supply was very short and I was nearly getting sick when I finally got to Dublin.

In hindsight I should've gotten the 6:59 train as there's only a few minutes difference in the arrival time between that and the 6:46 by the time it reaches city center.
