Default 30-Sep-2007 (Sunday) 18:30 Cork Dublin - Calcutta Express!

This train was packed today. Three stops (Mallow, Charleville, Thurles), people were standing from Mallow onwards.

If this is a regular occurrence (which I'm assuming it is -- as far as I know there was nothing special going on in Cork this weekend), IE should look at deploying extra trains on Sunday evening. Presumably at the stage where people are regularly standing, people are put off using the service. Assuming that more passengers = more profit, surely some class of train could be put on to meet the extra demand.

I got a seat, but felt sorry for those who had to stand for 2 hours 40 mins from Mallow (yes, 2h40 cos the train was 10 mins late when we got into Heuston).

Well students are back and they have lots of stuff with them, TCD freshers week and move into campus is Monday/Tuesday

Service is hourly from 12:30 to 19:30 ex Cork on a Sunday, and there is no way of going better than that, there are now 10 direct/1 indirect on a Sunday last year was 8/1

Of course everyone could book, not one of the 11 services today was sold out
